Hi, my name is Rachel and I am here today to talk about global poverty.Poverty is an increasing worldwide issue that needs to be addressed and fast!What is poverty you may ask??Poverty is the state of being poor and lack of the means of providing material needs or comforts.Poverty has existed for a very long time and to many extents it remains worldwide still in this 21st century.There are an estimated 1.4 billion people living in poverty today and it is most common in many third world countries in Africa, Asia and South America.Charities such as Trócaire and Concern fight against poverty and help to make a difference.These people just like you and me are fighting daily for their survival.They have nothing!! Life should be full of memories and experiences that you will remember and cherish forever. Not the experiences they have to live through.The happiest experience or memory these people have is a spoonful of food or a gulp of clean water which is something we take for granted!!One thing that I have noticed is from watching documentaries that they never complain,which is something we do way too much of!

-There are approximately two billion children in the world and one billion live in poverty.This has to change!!

-134 million children between the ages of 7 and 18 have never been to school.This has to change!!

-6 million children under the age of five die every year as a result of hunger.This has to change!!

21,000 childern die everyday due to malnutrition, malaria, war, No Food, No Water, No basic education and countless other diseases.They die for reasons we can prevent.We've all seen the sad Trócaire and Concern ads that may make us a bit teary but ask yourself this...do you automatically jump up and donate or contribute to help these people in obvious needs??We would all like to think yes but the real answer is NO!!Watching the ads and feeling sorry for them suffering people is NOT enough!!It's not about donating a couple hundred euros at a...
