Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to complain about the dreadful article published by the Sun named ‘One dead in New Year shootout’; released on 1st January 2010.
Firstly, I was absolutely horrified by the content of this article. It not only camouflaged the truth, but totally sensationalised the fact that there was shooting, involving black person.
I have read both the Sun article and the Family Press Release, which was written in response to the Sun article to put across the true side of the story. After reading them both, I had to write this letter to complain about how the Sun totally altered the real story in order to make it suit their manipulating, misleading, manoeuvring approach to their readers.
I am going to introduce you to Darren Deslandes, who was tragically killed in Thornton Heath, south London. Darren Deslandes was a respectable gentleman, without question. Abody else was involved in the incident and the two men ‘’simply drew guns’’ in the street and started firing at each other after a heated row’. ‘Heated row’ suggests that there was tension between them.   The quote ‘According to locals’, proves that this is unreliable evidence, because the source is unnamed so it is not guaranteed. This quote also sensationalises the incident because a sane man would not draw out a gun. This gives the impression that they were most likely drunk. However, I am 100% sure that they were not. When I refer back to the Family Press Release, it gives me the idea that the murderer intentionally shot Darren and Junior. It quotes ‘The murderer returned … then pulled out a gun’. Despite the fact that all this happened the Sun comes out with ‘The two men ‘’simply drew guns’’ in the street and started firing at each other after a heated row’. There is no evidence at all suggesting that the two men drew out guns and started firing at each other. The sun modifies the truth; twisting it an imperceptible way.
