5.7 Transportation
Transportation system was one of the important sectors which contribute to the well development of a place. Technically, transportation system was a fundamental part of logistics and planning whenever vehicles are used to move people or items from one location to another. Daily activities of the people were related to the transportation, people using the public transport and private vehicles to arrive at its destination. Generally, transportation system in the study area can be divided into land transport and water transport. This study emphasizes the aspects of existing traffic system in Tanjung Dawai. Transportation system is an important element in determining the pattern of development at Tanjung Dawai.

5.7.1 Objective
i. To study the existing transportation system.
  * To identify the type of transports used within the study area.
  * To study the availability of public transport within the study area.
  * To identify the traffic volume and degree of congestion at study area.

ii. To appraise the infrastructure and facilities related to the transportation system.
  * To study the type of infrastructure and facilities related to transportation within study area.
  * To study the existing road condition based on planning guidelines.
  * To study the existing condition of parking area based on planning guidelines.
  * To study the existing condition of jetties based on planning guidelines.
  * To study the existing condition of bus terminal based on planning guidelines.

iii. To identify issues and problems related to transportation system.
  * To determine the suitability of the existing road condition based on the planning guidelines and local people need.
  * To determine the suitability of the existing infrastructure and facilities related to the transportation based on planning guidelines and local people need.
