Day 3: The technical session at the beginning of the day saw panelists deliberate on a number of issues such as global metallurgical coal markets and the importance of India, the global iron ore market, new pricing paradigms, Chinese and Indian steel growth etc.

Speakers included Mr K Ranganath, CMD, KIOCL Ltd, Mr Calum Baker, CRU, UK, Ms Annalisa Jeffries, Metal Analyst, Platts and Mr P K Mukherjee, Managing Director, Sesa Goa. In his speech on Indian iron ore industry, Mr Mukherjee deliberated on how the prospects were bright and how the industry would stand to gain further if government policies were more supportive.



Following the technical session, delegates were introduced to a different kind of interaction at the Gujarat NRE integrity theme presentation contest. Contestants spoke on 慐thics in business: Ethics or ethical law, what comes first? It was pointed out how a corruption free society could actually transcend into a terror free society and that ethics gives control internally while ethical laws gives external support. Speedy justice and a global code of ethics was also advocated.

The last session of the conference was on partner state Team Orissa. The deliberations were among the best of the three-day conference. It was advantage Orissa all the way. 揋lobal Steel 2010 is a meeting point where the east coast meets the west coast. We have a lot of potential in mines, metals as well as in areas such as energy, power and petrochemicals.
