Microfilaments
Function: The primary function of a microfilament is to provide structural support. Microfilaments help to generate the forces in cellular contraction and basic cell movements.
Structure:

Description of Structure: Microfilaments are solid rods made of proteins, each microfilament shows polarity, and the two ends of the filament are different most of the time. Polarity in microfilaments affects the growth rate of microfilaments, one end usually assembling and disassembling faster than the other.
Animal, Plant, or Both? Microfilaments are found in both animal and plant cells because they are found in the cytoskeleton.

Microtubules
Function: Microtubules are involved in cell division, organization of intracellular structure, and intracellular transport
Structure:

Description of Structure: Microtubules are genneraly made of a protein called tubulin.
Animal, Plant, or Both? Both because they are found in the cytoskeleton.

Intermediate Filaments
Function: The function of intermediate filaments is to help maintain cell shape and also help create the nuclear larnina.
Structure:

Description of Structure: Intermediate filaments range in size from 8 to 12 nanometers. Rods coil to make dimmers.
Animal, Plant, or Both? Both because they are found in the cytoskeleton.

Tight Junctions
Function: tight junctions act as barriers that don’t let any material pass through the cells.
Structure:

Description of Structure: The cells link together as a barrier
Animal Plant or Both: Tight Junctions are found in animal cells

Centrosomes:   Centrosomes organize and manage microtubules
Structure:

Description: Centrosomes look like small cylinders that duplicate once every cell cycle.
Animal Plant or Both? Centrosomes are maily found in animals.

Cilia
Function: the function is to move fluid as well as moving cells and groups of cells.
Structure:

Description of Structure: Cilia are made up of microtubules. They are surrounded...
