According to the public housing, a problem of shortage has occurred.  Shortage is mean when quantity demanded is greater than quantity supplied. In term of the demand and supply of the Hong Kong Public Housing, quantity demanded of public housing is greater than quantity supplied of public housing. In fact, the resources from the Hong Kong Housing Authority Committees show that the numbers of general applicant applied for public housing are keep rising. In 2011, there are 89000 general applicant applied for public housing. In 2013, the numbers of applying public housing are 118700. About thirty thousand general applicants have increased in this period. It shows that the demand of the public housing are keep raising. On the other hand, the average waiting time of public housing keep taking longer every year. In 2011, the average waiting time take two years and 2 months. In 2012 to 2013, the average waiting time take two years and 7 months. According to the general applicant and the average waiting time, we can see that the demand of the public housing keeping, the waiting time of the public housing also take   longer than before. It means that the public housing is facing the shortage     6problem. On the other hand, the Hong Kong Government has published that HKSAR has provided 13114 units of public housing, but it can’t fulfill the demand of public housing.  
  Why the problem occurred? One of the reason is the private housing is too expensive and not everyone can afford the high private housing prices even the middle class. Therefore, it makes demand or the public housing grew in a higher level. Also, Hong Kong has a large number of low-income families. However, demand of the public housing keep raising and make the shortage of public housing occurred.
