The Death Penalty Should be Re-introduced in South Africa
The death penalty should be abolished says the humanist; The death penalty shouldn't be abolished says the community. Well the death penalty is a controversial topic, and it is difficult to have it and also difficult to not have it. What is Capital punishment?  Capital punishment is the death penalty.  It is used today and was used in ancient times to punish a variety of offenses. Even the bible advocates death for murder and other crimes like kidnapping and witchcraft. I will deal with both sides in broad later, but with my research so far and my knowledge of the earth and history and movies etc. the death penalty should exist in my opinion. It's bizarre to let people be able to kill and simply serve a jail sentence and thereafter   can even be pardoned. Does it make sense? When most courts decided to remove the penalty, they had not experienced empathy? You want the killer of your baby daughter to live? is that fair? you work for your creation whom God gifted you with? I believe the bible says we must forgive. We can forgive but does justice come with that? The death penalty has been there for a long time. There's a reason our ancestors introduced it/had it, not because they were uncivilized or they were cruel or underdeveloped. Not much has changed from then but technology and the church having less power than it used to have.
The origins of the death penalty can be traced back to the bc times in the ancient Egypt in king Hammurabis code, which had ''an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth'' And for that there's a perfect reason why throughout the years it was regarded as a just punishment until, well here in South Africa that is) 1995, in the case of S v Mwakwanyane where the court questioned whether it was an infringement of peoples human rights and their right to life.
