Have you ever thought of having the most reliable resources at your fingertips within just a few keywords and not even having to leave your desk? And no I do not mean Google, Yahoo, or Bing either, I am talking about our very own library at from school, yes Ashford University’s Library. Everything you can imagine to get you started; from EBooks, articles, Films on demand, and other informative sources all just a click away. You also have the ability to search by subject, a-z, or even different types, now how convenient is that? I cannot forget to mention the accommodating tutorials, and Librarians that are there to help every step of the way.
Bowles (2013) states a “public domain database as being an entirely free and open to anyone with a computer and an Internet connection and a proprietary database is accessible to someone who pays for a subscription or belongs to an institution that purchases a membership.” (Bowles, 2013).As much as I am a Google-holic, I regret to inform you that these databases are not the greatest to use for college papers considering that the professors are looking for reliable, scholarly sources to use for references. Although there are some sources that can pass as dependable resources, but it requires a small process to double check how “trustworthy” these websites really are.
The Ashford Library is a digital library which is faster and more convenient than having to go to a physical library, in my opinion. Articles, EBooks, films on demand, and other information sources that are resourceful and with so many options this should be effective in meeting most anyone’s needs. I know that if at any point while researching within the library I will always have the librarians of Ashford, tutorial, and research help, another benefit is provided by the library.
