If drinking is so bad for you, why are people under the age of 21 drinking alcohol? In my opinion the drinking age should be kept at the age of 21. Some people may say, if you are old enough to go to war and smoke why can’t you have a beer. Some may also say, you are a legal adult at age 18 and you can drink if you want. I am here to tell you that these people are wrong to think that.

Did you know that most car crashes happen with teen drivers? Actually 41 percent of all crashes happen because of teen drinking.   Just think if teens are driving while under the influence of alcohol their judgment of time will be altered ,also how they see things will be different.   If these teens are driving and their senses are different from what they should be they are very likely to get into a car crash.   When these youths get into car crashes they could kill someone and it would be because of the effects of alcohol.

Alcohol interferes with learning and memory. Experiments reveal that even a small amount of alcohol lowers learning ability of young people. The same amount has no effect on adults.   For teens that have learning disabilities or struggle with academic success, alcohol is doubly crippling because it also interferes with motivation.

In this country the legal drinking age is 21. Some people feel that it should stay at 21 and other feel that it should be lowered to 18. I feel that we are going to have a hard time stopping underage drinking. This however is not a reason for why I feel we should not lower the drinking age.

Some people feel that if it is legal for eighteen year-olds to die for their country and it is legal for eighteen year-olds to marry, and it is legal for eighteen year-olds to vote. Then why isn\'t it legal for eighteen year-olds to drink? I do think that these people make a great point except some 18 teen year olds are not mature enough to learn their limits and also make good decisions and make good judgment.
