Larry King

Next to my parents, Larry King is the most influential person in my life. He has led me to make excellent decisions and has taught me countless life long lessons. The first time I learned from Larry, was when I watched his show sometime in 5th grade, during that hour, I learned how: to improvise on the go, be a more persuasive talker and to never ignore the details. As the years went on, I picked up more and more from his TV shows, and I have also read his auto biography. These are just a few of the lessons Larry has conveyed to me through his show.

Improvisation is a crucial skill that has helped me numerous times in the past, and still helps me now.   In 5th grade I was asked to present my project to the rest of my class, but I had not prepared a speech to go along with it. Writing the speech would have taken an hour or more, but I was gone the whole day before it was due, so I was frantically trying to make something up. Ten minutes before my presentation I was about ready to give up, until I remembered about the Larry King show. That day Larry was interviewing some famous actor, and at end the actor asked Larry whether he wrote out all his questions before hand, or whether he improvised. Larry told the actor that he barely ever wrote out his questions, and even if he did, he would change them on the go. As soon I realized this, I decided to just give it a shot. Although my presentation was not of the best, it was definitely not bad. I received a decent grade, and I decided I would keep perfecting my improvisations.
