Dear Flt Lt O’Riley,

I am writing to you to apply for the promotion from Corporal to Flight Sergeant. During my 4 and half years; which includes my 7 month break, at cadets I have gained large amounts of experience and a thorough understanding of the working of the ATC. My 4 and half years is the longest serving out of all bar one of the NCO’s. I have taken part in an eclectic range of activities, including: first aid, WATEX, all sporting events, shooting, camps, all the FTD events (bar banner). The sample list from above is a clear demonstration of my willingness and want to push myself in all directions with the squadron. I am truly commited to cadets I always put all of my enthusiasm into anything I do in cadets, this shines through in my commitment to things that I have grown to understand will benefit our squadron in the long-term. My competitive nature coupled with a love of victory makes me give my utmost to each activity in which I partake. I have done and will continue to give a flexible approach to all tasks at hand, my quick thinking and analytical thoughts are helpful in breaking down any task into its fundamental parts, whereas my creative and charismatic personality are a strong means of including others and giving a positive perspective and thus execution of any task. It seems that most people approach me for any improvised activities on parade nights, which indicates that they recognise my intellectual creativity and hands on skills with any situation.

I recognise my own weakness’, notably and recently my arrogance, which saw a large downfall and a greater amount of self-humility following unfortunate failings on my physics research in CERN which lead to a disheartening drop from the Physics Olympiad team. I did however learn from this and use it to rediscover my former understanding of what is needed for greatness.
