I opened the box and took out the gleaming gold bracelet. I asked, “this is for me”? “Yes offcourse “ said my Grandfather. I really shouldn’t have been surprised because he was like that unexpected and golden.

My Grandfather was a person who inspired people to look at things differently.

His wisdom made me analyze situation before doing something drastic in my life.

I remember he would always tell me that “ Do what your heart desires and everything you want will follow”.

He was a very self disciplined that I hope to achieve someday.

He was in his late 30’s when he developed diabetes.

I vividly remember him telling me and my siblings to be good and to always take care of each other. When I think about it today, I feel maybe he sensed his death.

Few months after the surgery his heart couldn’t handle the stress from the surgery and he passed away.

When I saw him for the last time for the very last time, I remember thinking to myself that I will never see those eyes, that warm smile and most of all I will never see him again.

My grand father passed away few years ago but he has thought me many life lessons through his life.

After few months, I found that gold bracelet he had gifted me on my birthday.

Each time I look at it I am reminded of an even greater gift from my grand father the gift of love.

Through the little pieces of his life that remained with me and my family after he moved on as I grew to cope with his illness and death.

I have come to realize that nothing is permanent and we should try to make happy memories because memories are forever .

People often including myself forget the value of a warm smile , a hug to those in need or even the value of dedicated work.

Life is not about materialistic things , its about who leads their life with a warm heart. Just like my grandfather did.

I will never forget the influence of my grandfather in my life. He has made me the person I am today. Every...
