Chicken Wing Maker Wing Zone Preps for the Big Game, CNN, February 1, 2016, 2 Pages

The end of football is coming to an end as this Super Bowl 50 is arriving, food franchise business will also be gearing up for big competition for the big game this weekend.   While the NFL players are getting ready and see their hard work and prep payoff, Wing Zone franchise co-owner Matthew Licht in Long Island, New York will attempt to break his own record on chicken wing sales.
Matthew has two franchise locations; last year during the Super Bowl he sold fewer than 50,000 chicken wings that day alone.   He’s hoping for this year to go over that number.   His two restaurants were ranked the best Wing Zone sellers during the Super Bowl of last year.   Matthew stated, “The goal for this year is to get our hourly volume above $4,000, which we missed by, like, $50 last year.   During one hour we did, like, $3,900.”   Super Bowl Sunday should be big business for fast casual businesses like Wing Zone, and restaurant chains like Buffalo Wild Wings.
Americans are ready to eat 1.3 billion chicken wings this weekend.   That’s up to 3% or more than 37 million wings from last year’s game.   “Around the Super Bowl, we are going to see a lot of food traffic in these stores and a lot of online orders into these locations” Matthew said.   Matthew said the first year in business in 2005 he found customers waiting in line at 9 a.m. on game day; he said it was the closest thing to epic failure.   The business took out an apology ad in the local newspaper to explain to the customers why things went wrong.   Wing Zone is ready for what has to come to them and Licht and his family will try to make it home by the fourth quarter of the game.
