Since realizing that I have a problem with procrastination I have began the process of finding out why I encourage myself to practice this wasteful habit, and what I can do to stop. There are numerous sites on the Internet that give great self help techniques and also dare to ponder at why we as human beings tend to procrastinate. Using information collected from these sites and my own experience I am putting into action my own plan to rid myself of this disease procrastination.


Why do we put off till tomorrow what we could do today? In essence that question is the answer to itself. It says specifically “could do”, could is not a word meaning priority. As we steadily improve our way of life and extinguish all forms of danger, risk and great responsibility from our world we end up with menial or non-important tasks. We see tasks such as writing papers, filing books or fixing a car as boorish and loathsome. When people of this earth are confronted with these problems we are inclined to think, “Hey, is it really gonna matter if I do this today, tomorrow, or next week.”. And although in most cases it probably does not matter this is entirely the wrong attitude to have, because before long we will have so many jobs that   we “could do” but didn’t that we will never catch back up to the things that “have to be done”. So how do we begin to dig our selves out of the procrastinators hole?


There are two steps to ridding your self forever of procrastination. The first involves your determination and surroundings. To become successful in this endeavor we have to surround our selves with an environment, which is not conducive to distraction. If this means that we have to be alone in our room then that is what is needed. We also have to be determined, if we do not wish to complete the task why should we ever plan on finishing it. Staying confident that we shall finish the task and finish it in a reasonable amount of time is key. The second step is to keep starting....
