Romeo and Juliet

Introduction

Who is Capulet? When does he first appear? Is Capulet a major character? Is he important?

Capulet first comes across as a man who doesn’t think before he speaks. He seems hot-headed and ill-tempered and certainly doesn’t set a good example to the younger members of his family who look up to him: “give me my long sword” Capulet does also not intend to forget the grudge: “old Montague is come and flourishes his blade in spite of me.” Capulet really should be setting an example and trying to keep the peace, but he wishes to fight himself.

Capulet is the main man of the Capulet house and he’s also the father of Juliet. However, he is one of the major characters of the two rival families who appear in the Shakespeare book. He first makes his presence in Act 1 Scene 1 where he comes across his rival “Montague”. Capulet is a major character however he is not major in significant to Romeo and Juliet.   He is an important character of the book as some of his decisions make big effect in the story. His one decision played a dramatic effect on the story when he brought upon the death of Juliet by forcing her to marry Paris, separating her from her Romeo, and rejecting her.

Section 2

Act 1 Scene2: What kind of relationship does he have to his daughter, Juliet?

Capulet has a strong, close and a loving relationship to her daughter Juliet ‘she is the hopeful lady of my earth’ this tells how much Juliet means to Capulet and how much important...
