Alvaro Uribe Velez

Has Alvaro Uribe Velez become a hero during his eight years being president of the republic of Colombia? Or is just one more president who has been stealing from the countries economy and its citizens? Weakening the strongest terrorist forces “ F.A.R.C.” (Revolutionary armed forces of Colombia), while trying to hold the Unites States government an ally in the struggle to maintain peace between Colombia and its two border countries, Venezuela and Ecuador. These are only some on the main aspects that can merely describe his role as a hero for this great country.

Alvaro Uribe Velez is the head of state government and supreme administrative authority of the republic of Colombia. He was born in July 4, 1952 in Medellin, Antioquia, is the 39th president of Colombia and is currently serving his second term in office. Alvaro Uribe Velez has done what many presidents of Colombia did not do since the F.A.R.C. were created in the early 1950’s. Mr. Uribe has been fighting since the day he was elected; in fact this has been one thing he has put effort, enthusiasm and most of his time in. The reason why he is so obsessed in eliminating the guerillas is because they murdered his father “ Alberto Uribe” in 1983. This incident occurred at his farm in the Guacharacas, Antioquia when he allegedly resisted getting abducted. That is why instead of sitting and talking peacefully with the F.A.R.C. he encouraged violence, war, destruction and death. He was quite sure that he would end the guerrilla this way, with many highs and lows it is possible to say that Uribe has been very successful even though there is still a lot to accomplish to bring peace to all Colombian citizens.

The governments of Ecuador and Venezuela have been involved with the guerrillas according to some material found in one of their campsites, which was bombarded by the Colombian army following orders of president Uribe. Raul Reyes, one of the highest secretariat members of the F.A.R.C....
