Title: The effects and influences of technology on society
(You can design your paper to talk about society in general or focus on just the Brunei society, or both).
Deadline: 12th April 2010, 430pm. Print your work, and get it stamped (for the date and time) from the FBEPS clerk office. Hand it to me or put it in my mailbox.
10% will be deducted for each day, later than the date stated.
REQUIREMENTS:
Length: 5-6 pages, double spacing, Times New Roman font 12.
Provide references: At least from 3 journal articles and 2 books. You can provide more references if you like.
Please indicate your references in the in line text references as well.
eg The recent research stated that a microscope that attaches to a camera-equipped cell phone can be used to screen for hematologic and infectious diseases in areas that lack access to advanced microscopic equipment (Day, 2009).
DO NOT copy and paste materials especially from the Internet. If you want to quote materials from the Internet paraphrase the sentences, and state your sources. Plagiarism is dealt with harshly in the university. If you are found to plagiarize somebody else’s work you can be BARRED from the examination and your work will not be marked.
I will announce the best essay in class, and I can help you publish it in the local newspaper (either Brunei Times or Borneo Bulletin).
As I have mentioned in class on Thursday, there’s a competition going on which I think you can join, participate, and win {draw:frame}
I have posted in the previous post about the competition, “Present Around the World”, The IET Technical Prize, Brunei Young Professionals. If you are interested, we can turn your essay into a short presentation for this competition. But the deadline is on 10th April 2010. So if you are really interested, please submit to me your essay 1 week before this deadline, and we can discuss on submission for the entry.
