Pre-Discussion Questions
The true definition of family are all those who are considered descendants of a common progenitor. Many believe this word goes on to describe much more than this. A family could be anyone in a group or organization who shares common interests, attitudes,or goals. These people will commonly share affection with each other. For example, a group of friends could be considered a family, because they are usually very close and will go to far extents to help each other. Plus, they are normally always hanging out and bonding together and often times, friends may know each other better than family members who share a bloodline know them. When faced with problems, families always stand strong with each other. Family members are able talk to each other about their problems and personal life. A family depends greatly on how one sees it. If one’s family has not always been there for them and has barely helped them out in their life, they may consider their family to be strangers. If a "family" does not talk to one another and care about another, they may just as well be a group of strangers, because a true family is close to one another and communicate with one another. A group who reaches these requirements can title themselves as a “real family.”
I believe my responsibility when someone is hurt or in danger is to assist them. It is human instinct to help another human when they are in a time of need. Whether or not they are close to you, it is the right thing to do to help them, as it would be the right thing for them to help you if you were in danger. I always think of myself in someone else’s position while they were in danger, almost like the roles of us were reversed.
