Part one- (sections one-two, pp. 1-26)

1.Moshe the Beadle is Eliezer’s teacher of Jewish mysticism, Moshe is a poor Jew who lives in Sighet. He is deported before the rest of the Sighet Jews but escapes and returns to tell the town what the Nazis are doing to the Jews. Tragically, the community takes Moshe for a lunatic.
2.Religion is important to Mr. Wiesel because he said that is pull the family closer and it is important to have faith.
3.Moshe the Beadle is deported before the rest of the Sighet Jews but escapes and returns to tell the town what the Nazis are doing to the Jews. Tragically, the community takes Moshe for a lunatic.
4.The people refused to listen because the thought that the same fate might fall upon them.
5.Moshe the Beadle meant that while he was in the concentration camp that is very uncomfortable and to prepare yourself for harsh times.
6. Elies’ father refused to sell his shop because of his pride and because it was something he work on his whole life and did not want to give it up that easy.
7.The Fascists began to attack Jews, vandalizing properties and, announce their power.
8.After the leaders of the Jewish community were arrested the order for the remaining Jews was for them to be killed.
9.The Ghetto were a small section of a city where Jews were herded into and kept until they were sent to concentration camps. The Jews were unconcerned with living in the ghettos because the thought it was appropriate housing and at least they would be with their families. Later the Jews changed their minds about the ghettos once the saw their familys being separated and the brutality.
10.The significance of this was to let the people know that someone knew what was happing and to know that they were being watched.
11.The Hungarian police treated the Jews with kindness when it was time to go.
12.The Jews left their valuables behind because they did not want the Nazi to take them or benefit from...
