What is Love
“What is love, baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me, no more.”   These are the lyrics by a famous band, Haddaway, but what is the meaning of this line?
When the word love is looked up in the dictionary, there are 28 different definitions of love.   There is no one meaning; there are many forms and types of love.   Love is often thought of as being an intense, emotional attachment toward a person or a thing.   A person may show care for who or what they love and treat them, or it, with special needs.  
Interpersonal love is love between two people.   It influences peoples’ lives every day because it is a life experience felt by a person for another person.   A person who loves someone shows it by their actions, such as opening a door for the person or buys them things and shows their care.   This type of love is usually a romantic love; it is more intimate.   They may share secrets and tell them things no one else knows.   It can change a person’s life forever by making a life changing choice or a commitment, like marriage.
Another type of love is love for family and friends.   People show this by spending time with them.   They might have family dinners or go out to the movies together.   People don’t spend time with people or things they hate or dislike.   This is also interpersonal love.
Music, poetry, and painting are often inspired by love.   It is a big influence on people’s lives.   Music is often about love, and this causes people’s emotions to run.   It gets them thinking about another person.   Couples might have a “theme song” to their relationship because it has a meaning behind it that may remind them of a special time they had together.   People can relate to the art, they can connect with the song, or poem.
Advertisements, movies, magazines, and newspapers often display love. These types of media draw people to what they think the picture perfect love should be, but are they really sending the right message of love?   Nowadays advertisements often...
