Comparative Essay
The book Anthem and the movie Gattaca both had their similarities and their differences. The movie was almost meant for it to be based on the book, but in different viewpoints. The most comparisons and contractions are about the characters. The main characters both have distinct personalities and so does the characters around them. The characters are what made the book and the movie a success.
They both were very much secretive about it and both were almost exposed to the actions that were against the law. The only this is Equality tried to prove that he was right for the certain class. He tried to tell the house of knowledge that he had found the light, thinking that they would let him into the house of knowledge. He was wrong about this thought. They were going to kill him for his wrong doings. Instead Equality had found something that was beyond his goal. He had found is what was to be thought the future.
Vincent in the other hand kept quiet about being the man that he was not to reach his goal. Although in the process, Vincent was almost exposed by the death of a co-worker that almost tried to expose him. In the end Vincent was identified by that man whose son related to him. He did not try to prove the government wrong by expose himself and what he has done. Vincent reached into Gattaca and went to his mission trip to one of Jupiter’s moons.
It is easy to say that both stories had interesting point of views and plots. The characters and their personality made the story distinct and interesting. Their desire for what they wanted to do did not let society and government get into the ways of what they wanted. Both Equality and Vincent reach someone of a goal that they did not really think was attainable. Each character made the plot different for what the movie or the book was. The movie complimented the book and the book complimented the movie.
