Observation 2
Date: 4/2/2010
Location: At the child’s house
Age: 9 months
Sex: Female
Gross and fine motor skills (including reflexes) include       examples of each.     Fine motor skills she knows how to grab her snacks and put them in her mouth. She knows how to point at what she wants. Gross motor skills she hasn’t really got to the big movement at her age yet.
Interactions with any objects- Describe any schemes observed.       Did you observe assimilation or accommodation? Explain.             Language (adult’s and child’s) – what is the adult saying       and what is the child saying?     Her mom was telling her to stop stay over here, no don’t do that and come play with your toys. The child’s talk was baby talk uh, dede and giggle with a laugh
The mom used directed speech. The mother used regular vocabulary that you would use talking to an adult the pitch was soft as if you were speaking to a little baby.
What stages of language development would you say the child       is at (babbling, gesturing, naming explosion.)? Use examples       to illustrate your conclusion.     The child’s stages of language right now is babbling and gesturing. Babbling she is saying uh, shh, hi, bye bye. With gesturing she points at what she wants, she looks when you are talking to her and she grabs you and says ahh when she wants your attention.
The child’s temperament is an easy child. He has regular eating and sleeping cycles. She adapt easy to new environments around her. She has very little fuss always happy and smiling. You can tell she is a laid back child I would say she is an easy 40% of that group she falls in.
