In the play, Antigone, written by Sophocles, the main characters were Antigone and her uncle Creon. Despite the fact that they were related, there were some conflicts between them. The story ends with Antigone, Haemon her fiancé, and his mother dying, while Creon stayed alone after he had lost his son and wife. From the story, no doubt there are some similarities and differences between Creon and Antigone.

Antigone can be described as woman who cared a lot about her family and relatives, valued her self-respect and expected a great deal out of life. On other side Creon, Antigone’s uncle, can be described as a practical man who always wanted to be the leader and liked power. First, both Antigone and Creon were strong willed and strict people. They weren’t able to share opinions or make decision on which they would both agree. For example, Antigone refused to listen to her sister, Ismene, although she had told Antigone that they were women and, therefore, can’t do anything about Creon’s decision to not bury her brother, Polynices. “Remember that we are women, we’re not born to contend with men.” Another similarity was that Antigone and Creon sealed each other’s fate. When Antigone decided to bury her brother even thought she already knew she was going to be killed. They were really independent. Fro example, Antigone was independent when she decided to bury her brother’s body on her own after her sister Ismene refused to participate with her. Furthermore, Creon was independent because he refused to accept anyone’s opinion except his own. To illustrate, when his son Haemon came to talk to him and he refused to listen “Stop – before you make me choke with anger – the gods! You, you’re senile , must you be insane”
