No

“No!” Is probably the first word you will hear coming out of a parent’s mouth. This is because children at any age always want. It’s, “I want this,” and “I want that.” Parents can’t always say yes to their children’s desires, so they have to turn to the ugly word, no. I know from my own experience and from seeing other kids that children can’t quite comprehend or grasp the idea of the word no, and that is why it is so hard to hear it.
At a young age, kids think they can have anything that their little heart desires. Which is not necessarily a bad thing for the kids, but it puts a large dent in a parent’s wallet. It is never a bad thing to hope for something, but if you keep nagging your parent’s about it then it becomes an issue. So once you keep asking and nag after nag, then the parents finally have to end this whole fiasco with no. To parents, no means “you can’t have it, end of discussion.” Then to kids it means, “hmm, they said no but I think I can change their minds if I ask for a little while longer.” I know it’s hard to resist children’s little puppy dog faces, but sometimes you just have to say the word no!
When I was little and my mom would take me shopping with her, we would pass by a little trinket and I would say, “Give me. Give me. Give me.” We would go down every isle, and something would always fancy me. My mom would always say no to me, but I just didn’t want to grasp the fact that I couldn’t get what I wanted. There would be times when I would keep hounding my mom and she would eventually give in. Then in other cases she would look past the cute face, put down the toy, and move on. That is when it finally set in. I couldn’t always get what I wanted.
To this day, no is still a word I want to block out. Even being a teenager, it is always hard to not get what you want. Sure it sounds selfish, but each and every day new technology comes out and we all want the latest gadgets. I know for sure I am not...
