In the early twentieth century, world population stood at 1.5 billion people, the world's energy consumption amounted to 1 billion tons of oil equivalentToday we are 4 times more likely (6 billion) and energy consumption is 10 times larger (10 billion). This shows that the global energy consumption is constant and sharp increase and the average energy consumed per individual increases. The overall increase in world population (more people = more need) is obviously a cause. But it does not explain everything, since energy consumption is growing much faster than world population.

-The increase of individual consumption (and this is especially true for developed countries) because of higher living standards- Development of private transport and greater mobility, general household equipment and computer, etc. ...- The intensification of exchanges of goods at international level (because the economy is globalize, because communications are always easier, etc ...)- The special role of emerging markets (countries like China or India for example experiencing an economic boom) and which have their growing energy needs increasingly important.Recognizing this and deal with the risks involved in binge Global warming, depletion of resources, risks related to energy), so there is a necessary consideration in the developed countries to control consumption.

The combustion of these energy sources produces carbon dioxide (CO2) primarily responsible for global warming.Oil is the most energy consumed worldwide.Reserves estimated between 40 and 50 years at current consumption.Natural gas has seen consumption grow for 10 years. If reserves are slightly larger than for oil, its use remains limited to the heat and to a much lesser extent transport.Coal is the fossil fuel reserves which are most important. But it is the energy, with oil, now more involved in the pollution of the atmosphere.Nuclear power requires the use of uranium. It produces radioactive waste that we do not yet render...
