                      EGG-A-MANIA 1/1/10
2*

II.
The problem that I am investigating is; will certain liquids be able to pass through the shell of an egg and enter the actual membrane?

III.
Before this lab I knew that in some occasions liquids can enter through solid objects. I also knew that an egg had certain parts the greatly resembles a cell. The yellow yolk is similar to the nucleus, the egg white is similar to the membrane, and the shell is just like the cell wall. That yolk/nucleus needs many different types of supplements and proteins to keep it alive and strong. However I did not know how the nucleus received it due to the 2 walls that protect it. But I did know about permeable membranes which let certain things through.

IV.
My hypothesis is that some of the liquids will be able to pass through the hard shell and into the egg. However some will rejected and through this process the egg will be mutated due to the liquids. To test this hypothesis I will take an ordinary store bought egg and soak it in different liquids for about two days each then measure and write down any changes that accord to the egg.

VI.
1st We measured the size of our egg and took down other observations that we saw before starting       the experiment.
2nd We measured out 100ml of vinegar and put it in the container with the egg, and left it for 2       days.
3rd We removed the egg measured the size and took down any observations that we saw.
4th We measured the amount of vinegar left in the container seeing if the egg had absorbed       some of the water or even regurgitated some of its own yolk.
5th We repeated these steps 2 more times using syrup then salt water
6th After doing that we dissected the egg for fun.
