Illegal immigration causes many problems. Illegal immigration can be done many ways. One way is for an immigrant to enter the country without legal permission. Another way is for an immigrant to enter the country legally with a visa and then not leaving when the visa expires. Many people who enter the United States illegally are economic refugees. They are trying to earn enough for themselves and their families.
In many cases, the minimum wage in the United States is more than what they would earn in their country.
There are many problems with illegal immigration. The job distribution to citizens becomes erratic. Also, the illegal immigrants are more willing to work for less and don't fuss about it because they don't want to be caught. So, lower class citizens become replaced in their jobs with cheaper labor. Although the illegal immigrants are fueling the economy by purchasing things, the economic damage that is done outweighs the benefits.
However, many problems that activists against immigration cite are faulty. The activists complain that the illegals do not pay taxes but still collect benefits. This is flawed because anyone living in the United States pays sales tax and property tax. Also, most illegals use fake social security cards, which allows money to be withheld by their employers but prevents them from being able to receive benefits. The largest drain on the country from the illegal immigrants is their children's use of the public schools, because by law all children must be allowed to attend school. The children of immigrants, whether legal or illegal, are automatically US citizens if they are born in the country. The government was talking about taking away this right, but nothing has been done yet.
The move to eliminate illegal immigrants or to decrease the number of immigrants, legal or illegal, has many reasons. People see the immigrants who are willing to work for less money as a threat to the American wage. They feel that too many...
