The novel "Holes" was written by Louis Sachar. This book is about a boy Stanley Yelnats who happened to

be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Stanley got taken to court for something he never done. Stanley

then has a chioce to go to jail or to go to Camp Green Lake, of course Stanley chioces Camp Green Lake.

Camp Green Lake is nothing like his imagination though. Stanley knows that his family is cursed thanks to

his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather." At Camp Green Lake the boys have to

dig holes 5 by 5. They all get told its for charactor building but soon Stanley realises its more than that.

There are many charactors in this book but i would say, Stanley and Zero are the main charactors. Stanley

and Zero become good friends thoughout the book.
At the start of the book it tells you about Stanleys great-great-grandfather who had started the curse.

Elya Yelnats, Stanleys great-great-grandfather, was in love with a girl but knew he wouldnt be able to give

her father a fatter pig in exchange for his daughters heart. Elya then meets a gypsi called Madame Zeroni

who gave him a piglit and clear instructions on what to do. Elya had to carry the piglit up a mountain

everyday and let it drink from the fresh water. Then after gifting the piglit to the Father he had to carry

Madame Zeroni up the hill. After the girl chooses not to marry him he gets on a boat to America

forgetting all about the promise to Madame Zeroni. This caused the curse for generations to come. The

curse came along to Stanley Yelnats who always happens to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Stanley is over-weight and doesnt have friends at school. He gets bullied. When he was walking home from

school one day a famous baseball players shoes fell from the sky and hut him on the head. Stanley then

got tooken to court and though his story was true the judge didn't believe him. He got the chioce to

either...
