ABSTRACT

      At the present time, it’s hard to find a man without this one electronic gadget. This particular gadget is a mobile phone. The blooming number of mobile phone user within the last ten years has brought significant changing in our society. One of the changes is the changes it brought to our national language – Bahasa Malaysia. It has been a debate between scholars and among the society whether the means of this electronic communication brought a positive effects or vice versa. Mobile phone are conveniently used for social communication, and in business transactions are invaluably helpful but can also be extremely detrimental to the languages, which in this case, Bahasa Malaysia. This report is done, mainly to investigate wether it’s true or not, the use of short messaging system is either corrupting the Bahasa Malaysia or not.

INTRODUCTION

      This report is done, mainly to investigate whether it’s true or not, the use of short messaging system is either corrupting the Bahasa Malaysia or not. But, before we dig deeper, it’s a must to firstly understand why it’s so important to mind about the subject. Bahasa Malaysia is a very much importance to Malaysia in many ways. As we know, Malaysia is a country with a multiracial formed from various race,   Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Dusuns and many more. In order to maintain country independence, achievement, development, stability in economic and politic, a unity in diversity is a must for Malaysiaan.
