In Praise of American Empire

      The United States is the most powerful nation in the world. Today, this is almost known as a fact no matter where you. Over the long course of history America has established itself as the top country economically, politically, and in the military. Although this country prides itself on its democracy and freedom of speech, citizens of other countries often look at America as a dictatorship itself, a dictatorship over others countries in the world. Other countries view America as another evil empire chapter of human history. However, one Dinesh D’Sousa, who comes from the White House himself, labels these claims as unfair and downright ridiculous.

      Dinesh D’Sousa is an Indian-American self-claimed conservative who served as senior domestic policy analyst in the White House from 1987 to 1989, during the Reagan Administration. He currently serves at the Hoover Institution and is known for publishing books that give a strong focus on race relations and ethnic identity. In “In Praise of American Empire” Dinesh D’Sousa speaks about the large stereotype that America is a big bully. This writing focuses on arguing against the critics of America and injecting a positive view of the country. Many citizens outside of the United States and even inside suggest that America is no different from other large and rapacious empires that have bullied themselves to power in the past. They label America as a country that only cares about its own interest and is willing to trample over any other country to get it using it’s vast political and military powers.

      One of the strongest arguments that these critics have against America is the Gulf War. For example, America’s leaders suggested that they were fighting for human rights but really they were fighting to protect America’s access to oil. The democratic ideals that the United States loves to promote have been labeled as fraud and just a cover...
