Approach towards Corporate Social Responsibility from Future Managers.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), can be described as, the continuous commitment by corporations towards the economic and social development of communities in which they operate. The concept of corporate social responsibility of large industrial groups has occupied a prominent place in the greater national discourse on economic issues. The importance of CSR activities are now well acknowledged in the boardrooms of corporate India. The top brass and the high level managers are deeply involved into the CSR activities of the company. However the employees at the lower and middle level are rarely involved directly or indirectly in the various initiatives.
This disengagement from the CSR activities could be due to the various reasons. One of the few main reasons could be lack of awareness regarding the CSR activity undertaken by their company, lack of encouragement to participate or poor value attached to the CSR activities by the employees themselves. The lack of precise knowledge on CSR and its ability to make an impact in society and societal issues also play a role in this issue.

This study evaluates the poor level of importance attached to the CSR activities by the employees. This may be due to the lack of proper understanding of CSR acquired during their student days. It is difficult to appreciate the value and importance of CSR at a stage where building a bright and financially stable career is the main motive. The relevance of CSR in developing the company brand may be lost on them. The scenario may be slowly changing with the introduction of “Corporate Social Responsibility” as a course in most of the B-schools.
The study is done to understand the approach towards CSR by the future managers. It would be done by conducting a survey among the management students. Their understanding of CSR, opinion on its importance in their future corporate life and their commitment towards CSR...
