In a lot of contemporary photography, representation becomes a powerful connection between the subject and the audience.
Photography has always been a large part of my life, an important mode for me to express my feelings. Connecting my two passions; photography and fashion
I am interested in covering portraiture photography; the main area of interest is aspects of fashion and advertising. Images that are simple yet have a strong story to tell.
During the course of this project I intend to be able to portray the images shot, and the messages specified, clearly and efficiently. As the photographer and the observer I expect to gain full control of the working environment at all times, thus helping me create the set and the results desired. In order to achieve this successfully I feel it is important to gain a fine and comfortable working relationship with the models. Furthermore this will also help me gain more confidence and better my communication skills.
Research and Development outline
A vital part of this project is personal, as it will involve overcoming my own fears and feelings of un-acceptance.
I have struggled with these issues for most of my growing life, and I feel this project will enable me to gain a personal accomplishment by revealing the beauty I have learnt to see and hope to be able portray this to my audience through my images.
To develop this idea further I carried out both primary and secondary research to help support my direction of thought. I looked at works of other artists such as Amanda Grandfield, and Ted Meyer. Additionally I interviewed individuals on a personal basis who have scars and imperfections. As this is a sensitive subject for many, I had to take the method of approach into great consideration, so I approached individuals I know on a personal basis to create a firm foundation and help me to gain confidence in approaching strangers with scars or imperfections throughout the course of this project....
