Introduction:
Love and hate takes place in so many ways, and Romeo & Juliet and West Side Story set that on display in so many similar ways. Their similarities that I will be touching on in this essay are the storyline, the characters, and I will compare the scene similarities. The similarities are vast, and I am going to expose them.
I think that the storyline is the most obvious similarity that I can think of. An example in West Side Story is one of the big ideas in the movie. It is the fact that both gangs will suffer from something in the movie. " A plague on both your houses." They both instantly fell in a complete transe of love. " O, she doth teach the torches to bern bright!" These are the first words that Romeo said when he saw Juliet at the Capulets ball. When Tony and Maria lock eyes at the dance, they did not talk. This shows how powerful love can be.

In West Side Story Tony was talked into going to the dance by Riff. In Romeo & Juliet, Benvolio and Mercutio conviced Romeo to go and crash the Capulets party. While at the partys both characters meet a beautiful woman. They instantly become infatuated with one another. While this is happening Juliets cousin, and Maria's brother Bernardo, realize what is happening and try to put a stop to it. " Fetch me my rapier...
