Tragic News from in the Middle East, in the Ottoman Empire, it is 1853 and the tension out here just seems to build up. The Russians desperately want passage for grain and other exports into the Mediterranean Sea, and it appears that that would be the cause of Russia's influence with the Ottoman Empire. The Russians have sided with the Ottoman Empire by joining forces with enemies increasing trade, and other means of treaties and vows. It looks like the Ottoman Empire is being set up.
The scene over here in the Ottoman Empire, Russia has just declared war on the Ottoman Empire, I just got done interviewing a young and confident Russian soldier on why Russia declared war, the young soldier said, "We need to be able to ship our imports through the Black Sea, we declared war, so we can get the land that should be ours, we will win the war and gain the extra land." What an interesting statement. It looks like Britain and France have now joined the fight along side the Ottomans. This war is a sight to behold. It does hold two firsts though. It is the first time that a war is covered by a newspaper correspondent and the first time that women establish positions as nurses.
It looks like the combined effort of Britain, France, and the Ottoman Empire have defeated Russia in this war that people are now calling the Crimean was due to the peninsula that it was mostly fought on. We can now see the gaps in the Ottoman Empire's militaries weakness', and despite the fact that the war is over the Ottoman Empire still is continuously losing land. Not long after the Ottoman War, Russia sided with the Slavic people against the Ottoman Empire in the Balkan War. This almost diminished the size of the Ottoman Empire.
What an interesting time it has been with your local news. We shall see what happens in the following few months and whether any more wars or if peace will follow.
