This past summer, I went on an exciting trip to the Boy Scout National Jamboree in Virginia amongst 45,000 scouts from around the nation and world. This experience gave me many opportunities and I became a better person because of it. I will never forget these wonderful experiences or the friends that I made. I had great fortuity in my trip because it made me a better person through the people I met, things I experienced, and the leadership skills I was able to improve on.
 While I was at the Jamboree, I had the chance to try new things. This was great for me because I needed these opportunities to overcome some of my fears. For example, I rode a zip line for the first time. This was really scary to me because I had to let myself fall off a ledge that was at least 75 feet high. After I jumped off, I surprisingly enjoyed the feeling of flying through the sky with an astounding view from high in the trees. I used this exhilarating experience to show myself that there is nothing I can't do. In the end, I really liked the zip line because it was something new and exciting. My fear does not have to dictate the way I live my life and overcoming it improves my well-being. In addition to this, I was able to create new friendships that were beneficial to have. The people I met at the Jamboree that were from different parts of the country and world. This trip gave me the chance to experience different cultures and different people.
 For the Jamboree I was chosen to be the Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL) of my troop which gave me the liberty to improve on my leadership skills. The position of ASPL is second in charge to the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL). The SPL was in charge of the troop and I helped him with his responsibilities. I was grateful to be chosen for such a position out of 40 scouts in our troop. During the Jamboree, I had several responsibilities, one of which was to plans a campfire.
