Adolf Hitler



Adolf Hitler is one of the greatest and most famous villians in history. People know that Hitler lied, killed, and manipulated the thoughts of citizens in order to rise to power, but does everyone know the story of his life?
On April 20th, 1889, Adolf Hitler was born in Austria, in a town close to the border of Germany. Adolf's father, Alois was a customs officer at the border crossing. Before his birth, Adolf's mother, Klara, had given birth to two other children who died at a young age. Adolf also had a younger brother who died at age six. In 1896, Klara gave birth to a girl she named Paula, who even lived past Adolf's death. Adolf   had been given love, care, and affection from his mother as a young boy. Also as a young boy, the family changed locations often. (Stokes) Soon, Adolf became rebellious and began doing poorly and failing school. He no longer took part in formal education starting in 1905 and began years of pointless wandering through woods, painting, and reading, aspiring to be a famous artist. His mother died in 1907, and he moved to Vienna hoping to enroll in the Academy of Fine Arts. He did not gain admission that year and went into a period of deep depression, drifting away from friends.
During this time, Hitler grew interested in mass political manipulation. Specifically, he was impressed by the successes of the anti-Jewish, nationalist Christian-Socialist party of the mayor of Vienna. This party used propaganda and mass organization. Hitler eventually developed the extreme anti-Semitism and racial mythology to remain central to his own set of beliefs, and that of the Nazi party. Following the start of World War I, he volunteered for involvement in the German army. In this war, he fought on Germany's Western front, and gained recognition but no promotion beyond corporal.
