INDIGENOUS RELIGIONS
Let me start by giving a little background information on myself. I was raised in a split household my father was catholic and my mother Baptist. My fathers’ faith was the stronger of the two. I can describe the two days a week I can describe the two days a week I spent at St. Barbaras Church as sit, kneel and stand. Of course as I have grown I have realized it is more a part of whom I have become. My values were instilled at a young age and they have stuck threw adulthood.
In this class is the first time I have learned in depth about people of other faith. I was a Sociology major my first attempt in school I learned about culture but hadn’t looked at religion aspect.   I live in a diverce   area of Georgia. There is an Indian reservation south of here. Before learning in this chapter I didn’t put into aspect that pow wow’s   are more of a   religious   gathering, than just a social gathering.   I had not put a lot of thought into the workings of the way of any Indigenous Religions.   I am now finding myself look at people in a different way. I work in a place that serves food it used to bother me when customers would question me about handling meat before making food for them. I am starting to understand why it is important to them. It is who they are, as I believe in Jesus being all around me all the time, they believe in what they were raised to believe.   Having had this class it brings me to feel differently about things, I am a lot more respectfully to others religion. This is what I will define as EDUCATION, we can all use some in this ever changing time.
