The Flower is the main subject of this picture. She uses watercolour and ink to create her images, which are very bold and colourful. The detail within the picture is mainly of black lines and is very creative. An example is the thick black lines on the outside of the flower to emphasis the importance of the flower. Another is the leaves and how the black swirls off to create a leaf affect. The important line of the picture is in the leaves, where the veins are in black. The patterns consist of swirls in the background to the dots up the leaves or around the centre of the flower. The colours used are very bright and I like how they make the picture “happy”.

      I like how Neuman uses bright colours to create happy images. She also uses black in the most appropriate ways to emphasis certain parts of her pictures. It’s appealing to the eye how there is no dark shading, only thick black ink where it’s necessary. The only thing I don’t like is that the page could use more space fore background, and added detail. Otherwise I love this painting.

      Neuman is intending to create a happy feel through her work. She intends to creatively write peoples names, make happy flower drawing, and any other subject she may use.

      Lynne Neuman was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio in 1961. In her early interests, she created realistic pen & ink and pencil drawings to earn money throughout high school and college. She took some time off of art, but later took an art class which restocked her love of art.

Sims uses many differents subject matters usually in the area of nature. This particular piece is of iris’ near a meadow. Sims used acrylic paints to complete this painting. There is lost of shading being used in the foreground and background. There aren’t any lines that deal with adding features to the painting, but lines do make up the outlining of the stems of the flowers.
