Marc Brown began telling stories to his friends at a very young age.   He attended Public Schools in Erie, Pennsylvania and many different art studios there as well.   After he graduated from high school, Brown attended the Cleveland Arts Institute, to be writing over one hundred books with his own pictures in it.   Before Brown started writing books, he had many jobs, including the job as a truck driver, soda jerk, actor, chicken farmer, television art director, short order cook, and college professor!   Mark Brown was married in the year 1973 to Lindsey Brown, before his true profession began

Mark Brown has spent over twenty-five years writing and illustrating short story books, since an idea came to him one night when he was telling his son a story.   He and his books have won many awards, such as the Newberry Award, and the Best Children’s Book of the Year Award.   His TV show today is the number one rated show on PBS.   Today at age fifty-eight, Marc Brown still continues to write about Arthur the Aardvark, and many other characters, advancing to a chapter book series.
