Prejudice
Harper Lee is the author of the book To Kill A Mockingbird published in 1960.This book takes place in a town called Maycomb, Alabama. Scout, Jem, Atticus and Tom Robinson are the main characters in this story. Atticus is the father of Scout and Jem. Dill is Jem and Scout’s summertime friend. Tom Robinson is the person Atticus is defending in a case. With Jem and Scout’s father defending Tom, they go through many conflicts involving various types of prejudice. Her Aunt Alexandra was discriminating against scout because she was acting more like a boy than a girl. In Maycomb if one is a woman doing male things one are looked down upon and get different treatment.
Lastly, there is social class prejudice. Social class prejudice is when people are discriminated against because of their status in Maycomb. “Naw, it was Walter he aint trash Jem. He aint like the Ewells”(Lee 226). Mayella Ewell and her family are being discriminated against because they don’t have poor and...
