Although it is important to keep oneself safe from gunmen, it is also very dangerous to let students carry around a weapon on campus.
It’'s known that there have been numerous of gun shootings on campus in different colleges. In these cases, the government usually takes responsibility and immediately take action, but not in Texas. In this state, it’'s known that many lawmakers carry around concealed weapons just in case there so happens to be an incident where a weapon must be used. Along with this, a bill made by Jeff Wentworth allows students to carry weapons on campus as long as they have a permit. The reason for this is to protect themselves from any gunmen that may decide to fire at their school. This may have been a smart idea, but think about other events that could happen due to this. A drunk student who has a gun in their hands could easily shoot at another person without even knowing. Or maybe a furious student that obtains a terrible temper maybe use the gun to fire at another without thinking for a second.
Creating a permit to be able to carry around a gun on campus is not right at all. There have been dangerous shootings in the past, but that does not mean students should be allowed to handle dangerous weapons as well. This past fall of 2010, Colton Tooley had opened fire at the University of Texas Tower. This small incident had triggered the memory of one of the most horrific shootings in U.S. history during 1966 at the same exact location. This caused deaths of

fourteen young students. Texas is known to have students that attain concealed weapons. The bill created by Jeff Wentworth had advised that it was fully okay to have students carry weapons on campus as long as they had a permit. It is not hard at all to get a permit which makes this bill sound even worse. Did Wentworth not know about the tragic that had happened in 1966? Did he not realize that these young adults are not fully mature enough to wisely handle weapons? Nowadays,...
