How To Put An End to The Backwardness of The Rural English Teaching
  Summary: Rural junior English teaching has received more and more attention. As the current situation of rural junior English teaching is severe, there is a long way to go to change the situation, while from the first beginning of the change, we should find effective methods to teach and learn more effectively.

  With the further progress of the foreign language teaching in our country, the standard of English course of 2001 put forward several new requires to junior English teaching. As to kinds of reasons known to all, there are still many disadvantages in the quality of junior English teaching in countryside, and we meet a lot of problems in the process of starting English courses. Now, at first let’s see the current situation of several rural middle schools of China:
  1.The quality of English teaching equipment is very poor. Nowadays, there are only few schools have phonetic labs and electrified education platforms. Several schools may have the electrified education equipments like tape recorder, VCD, TV and so on, while the corollary equipments relevant to teaching materials are barely can be seen in the class. Most of the time ,a notebook, a piece of chalk, and a recorder are the most abundant equipments used by teachers. In some areas, the loudspeaker is even used in the English listening test. We can imagine how the effect will be .The small volume and the monotony of the forms of English course are also the problems, which greatly affect the students’ zeal in taking part in practice actively.
  2.The amount of the English teachers are in short, and the quality of them are poor. From researches on several rural middle schools in Nan Chon, we can see that most English teachers there don’t have bachelor’s degree, and it’s very usual that the teachers graduate from institutions of higher education or polytechnic...
