Richard Rohr, who is founder of the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, believes in mystery and multiplicity. He does not know to find out what exactly the mystery is, but he just accepts it as it is. It is possible because he has real belief in his mind to support everything. Like Richard Rohr, I do have strong belief and I believe a personal credo.
I do believe in God. When I read the bible, sometimes I feel that it does not make any sense scientifically and physically, but I just accept is and believe it as it is. I do not try to find which is possible and which is not possible. No explanation and answers are needed.
Sometimes I see people who try to prove that god believers, including me, are wrong with some fancy scientific explanations about the specific event that is written in the bible. I do not even want to start arguing with them, because real belief does not come if you have even tiny doubt in your mind. Furthermore, belief is something that is not supposed to be involved with science. If we want to believe, we have to just receive it as it is without sharp eyes to find flaws and wrongs.
I agree with Richard Rohr with this statement, “Religious belief has made me comfortable with ambiguity.” Like him, I could not tolerate such ambiguity when I was young. But as I have grown up both physically and religiously, I have learned how to accept and learn something that is not really proved and different than my thought. Faith, has made all these things possible.
