In todays society as we get older things are changing rapidly. At 44 I have gone back to school to get an education so I will be able to work and able to support myself without any help from others. Due to all the budget cuts, who knows what will be here in 20 yrs, will there be social security? Well I cant wait for the outcome, so that is why I have gone back to school. To better myself and accomplish something that I   enjoy doing, helping others is something I really enjoy doing in all different walks of life. Also my kids will see, that yeah my mom did do something with her life and became a person of passion.

I started here at merced junior college just to get a certificate to counseling addiction. Now I have decided to go into social work and get my masters. I just wish I would have started sooner and knowing that I can achieve what I set forth as my goal. You can do what you want if you believe in yourself. I was raised in a family of seven. There was my mom and dad, I had two older brothers, an older sister, then me, and then my younger sister. We were all 3-4 yrs apart in age from birth. So when I entered high school, my brother graduated. Then when I graduated High School, my younger sister started. I never went to school with them and I think I would of like that a lot.

When my older sister went to school, my mom made a lot of her clothes. By the time it was my turn, things in generations were already changing. My school clothes were bought, my father and mother owned there own furniture store. My father was also a contractor, he would build apartments and then sell them. My mother was a homemaker, my mom went back to work after the last of the kids graduated High School. We were a close knit family, and taught morals and values by our parents and we had trust. We did not go to a lot of social events other than church is what I remember when I was young. We would go to my parents friends house after church for fellowship.
