Introduction
Dale Chihuly is a glass sculptor who is famous for manipulating glass to create very unique pieces. He is an important artist because he has increased the popularity of glass art. He has created many different pieces that inspire other glass sculptors.
The reason I chose Dale Chihuly is because his work is very interesting. His work is not only abstract but also purposeful. He inspires me to try and find new ways to manipulate the media I am using; when he manipulates glass it turns into extraordinary pieces. When I see his work I believe that if I experiment with the media, even I can create an extraordinary piece.

Biography
Dale Chihuly was born on September 20, 1941, in Tacoma, Washington. His main supporter was his mother, because his brother and father died when he was only 16. His brother died in a flight training accident, and his father died from a heart attack.
He graduated Washington University with a Bachelor of Arts, in Interior Designing, in 1965.   In 1968 he received a Fulbright Fellowship, through which he studied glass at the Venini glass factory in Venice; he was first introduced to the team approach to glass blowing. Next in 1971 he cofounded the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington.
In 1976, a Chihuly was involved in a tragic accident. His face went through the windshield and glass blinded his left eye. However he still continued glass blowing until he had another accident. Chihuly was involved in a bodysurfing accident in 1979, which dislocated his left shoulder and left him unable to blow glass. In 2005 he married his girlfriend, Leslie Jackson. In 2006 his mother, Viola, passed away. His mother absence has brought a new direction to his art.
