Q.   Abigail why did you accuse others of witchcraft?
A. I first started my web of lies in a desperate attempt to not be held accountable for dancing in the woods.
Q. Why were you dancing in the woods in the first place? Did you not know it was forbidden in the puritan communities?
A. yes, I did know it was forbidden, but I did it anyway because I was attempting witchcraft to get me to fall in love with me.
Q. Why was Reverend Parris so upset when he had caught you guys dancing in the woods?
A. One of the reasons why Reverend Parris was so upset was because he saw that his daughter Betty was one of the girls who was dancing naked around the fire.
Q.”And mark this. Let either of you breathe a word, or the edge of a word, about the other things, and I will come to you in the black of some terrible night and I will bring a pointy reckoning that will shudder you (Miller 19).” Why did you threaten the girls with this? And what did you mean by it?
A. When I said this I meant that I will come in the night and slit the girls; throat if any of them mentioned about what had happened that night in the forest.
Q. What did you mean by a ‘pointy reckoning’ thing?
A. I was purposely using my imagination to frighten them more that anything could ever express.
Q. Why did Elizabeth lie about John and your affair?
A. Elizabeth lied because she was afraid that John will be arrested as a witch, and also because she loves him, and wanted to protect him.
Q.   Why didn’t you only accuse Elizabeth of being a witch? Why did you accuse other people as well?
A. I didn’t just accuse her because if I had it would’ve been more suspicious. I accused other people to make it lead up to the accusation of Elizabeth so people would believe it.
Q. If Elizabeth was just one of the many evil witches in town, why didn’t anybody really notice?
A. No one really notices the witchcraft because no one was really looking for it until the...
