Inroduction
The important factor in making a transition from college to corporate culture is having the right attitude. This begins with how well you understand your role in corporate workplace. The appropriate role to adopt is that of a young professional whose conduct and actions bespeak discipline, dedication and determination.

Having a college degree is just like greasing the hinges on the door to get you inside. Once you are employed, you have to prove your worth over and over. Success is the ability to get along and interact with others while always getting the job done. Opportunities come to those who prepare themselves for greater responsibility. As an employee, especially as a fresher your every move: the way you walk, smile, dress, and communicate is being watched, it is up to you to create the right impression with the right people.
To win the respect of others we need to present ourselves in an acceptable manner both in business and social situations. Etiquettes would allow us to achieve this objective. It allows us to maintain a standard in whatever we do. We are not conscious of our mistakes while interacting with others, because the study of etiquette is not part of our school curriculum.
Technical skills may teach one how to meet the expectations of the job, but soft skills teach one to succeed, and to exceed expectations. It is surprising that we spend our time educating almost exclusively in technical skills.
A constantly changing work environment - due to technology, customer-driven markets, an information-based economy and globalization that are currently impacting on the structure of the workplace and leading to an increased reliance on, and demand for, soft skills.
Soft skills are the non-technical skills, abilities, and traits that individuals need to function in a specific environment. They include competencies like problem-solving, cognitive skills, oral communication skills, personal qualities, work ethic, interpersonal and...
