Frankenstein 1

For many, most of their time is spent with others, whether they enjoy their company or not. Everyone deals with people on a daily basis; having it be friends, family, and possibly strangers. In the novel Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley,   the reader concluded that living life being alienated can have a tremendous effect on the average being. The novel consists of Victor Frankenstein coming to dislike being alone in the world. At times he is at his peak, he is happy and writes to his family, but other times he is remorseful and upset. Emotional isolation prevails for Victor because he is unable to tell others about the monster he created. His childhood was not one where he had to be alone. His parents encouraged his love of sciences, though his dad thought he should study a different science than inventing and creating new things. The basis of the novel can be viewed as learning his first experience with loneliness and how it was “enriching”, and a sudden twist being made that being alone would turn into being a nightmare.
   
The development of Victor Frankenstein is very ordinary and joyous. His father Alphonse, and his mother, Caroline make his home life easy and his childhood one to remember. Growing up his beloved friend, Elizabeth gets adopted into the family. The family realized she should no longer be alone and needed others beside her. Victor’s family is idyllic; full of love and a family setting that can be compared to in the movies as being “perfect”. Through the base of this time, there is a darkness lingering over the closing of the chapters. “It is even possible that the train of my ideas would never have received the fatal impulse that led to my ruin.” (Shelley 33) Foreshadowing how life is beautiful although desolation is going to end is a big plot in the early chapters of this novel.
