Napoleon was a very bright historical person. Napoleon was not only a great military leader, but an Emperor of the French. He had a mysterious and interesting personality. His biography is interesting not only for historians, but also for the common people. Why did Napoleon become so successful? How did he become an Emperor? Why did he die?

Napoleon Bonaparte
He was born on the 15th of August 1769 in Ajaccio, Corsica.   He died on the 5th of May 1821 (aged 51) He was one of the greatest generals in history.

Napoleon was born in France, on an island called Corsica in Ajaccio, on the 15th of August 1769. When he was a small boy, he dreamed of adventures; fighting and saving people.
In 1779, when Napoleon was 10 years old, his father, Carlo Bonaparte, made his son go to a military school in Brienne. For Napoleon’s achievements in school he was moved to a military academy in Paris in 1784.  
Napoleon loved going to the military schools. He always said that his dreams about adventures; wars, most likely to say, are coming true. He studied with very much of interest. He was very smart, so by the time he turned 16 he already finished the military academy.
Napoleon Bonaparte lived in the very hard times, the times of the French Revolution. At that time, there were lots of fights and battles, so Napoleon was sent to fight in Corsica.
In 1792 Napoleon became a lieutenant colonel of Corsica and a staff captain
of France.

5 years later, Napoleon married Joséphine de Beauharnais but then, on the 19 of March 1796, he became a commander of the Italian army and needed to go to Italy and leave Josephine in France, when only two days since their marriage past.

    Napoleon saw the need to lead an offensive war against the Austrians and their Italian allies, and for that he decided to invade northern Italy. (Italian Campaign 1796-1797).
