Essay on Impaired Driving and Aggressive Driving

Impaired and Aggressive driving is harmful and can be 100 percent prevented. In the first paragraph, I will be talking about how driving while impaired has severe consequences and is very dangerous to your body. In the second paragraph, I will also be talking about the effects of aggressive driving. Both of these can cause harm to you and others around you.

What does alcohol really do to you? Well, alcohol slows down your reflexes and reaction time. It also reduces you ability to see clearly and distorts your judgment of speed and distances. What does you blood alcohol content (BAC) really depend on? It primarily depends on how much you drink, your weight, and how much time passes between the drinks. About 13,000 drinking and driving convictions are recorded just in Ontario. If you are driving while impaired, the police catch you, and you refuse to take a breath test and/or registering a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.05 or more your license will be immediately suspended on the road side for 3-days. These drivers who are suspended are also subject to a $150 Administrative Monetary Penalty. That is only the first time! If they catch you again, (within 5 years) your license will be suspended for 7 days. You will have to attend a mandatory alcohol education program, and there will be a $150 Administrative Monetary Penalty. The third time they catch you (within 5 years again) you will have a license suspension of 30 days, you will attend a Mandatory alcohol treatment program, there will be a six- month ignition interlock license condition, mandatory medical evaluation, and $150 administrative Monetary Penalty. The other consequences, much more severe, are injuries, and even death. If you want to drive, don’t drink. If you want to drink, don’t drive. Don’t take the chance.
